Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are Isoflames gas logs tested to any standard?

A. Yes, Isoflames gas logs are tested to the standards of the CSA testing agency. CSA certified products are evaluated by a formal process involving examination, testing and follow-up inspection that complies with applicable standards for safety and performance.

Q. Is there an Isoflames see-thru or two sided log set available?

A. Yes Isoflames does offer a two-sided log set in varying sizes.

Q. Can Isoflames gas log sets be used in outdoor applications?

A. Due to the high quality of the stainless steel used in the burners, Isoflames gas logs can be used for exterior applications and use. However, due to the drastic changes in weather throughout the United States, it is necessary to always check your log set and burner as weathering and breakdown can occur.

Q. Is it common for the brick behind the log set to look charred?

A. The charred look on the brick in your fireplace is common. This black material or powder is often referred to as soot. Due to the combustion process, gas logs and surrounding areas may have soot deposit on them. Though the soot may seem unsightly, it actually brings additional realism to the fireplace as natural wood also produces soot deposit.

Q. Can I clean my Isoflames log set? If so, how do I?

A. Scheduled maintenance is always encouraged and it will lengthen the life and beauty of your logs. To clean the logs simply turn the logs on to get them at a normal burning temperature. Turn the log set off. With the log set still hot, spray areas of the logs with a small amount water from a mister. There is no need to wipe anything away as the heat form the logs will help evaporate the soot and water. Turn your set back on to dry off any excess water that may still be on the logs.

Q. Does Isoflames offer a vent-free gas log set?

A. Unfortunately at this time, there is no vent-free or ventless gas log system available. We plan to offer them in the near future so please check back to see when they will be available

Q. Can I install my Isoflames gas log set myself?

A. We do not recommend that you install your ISOFLAMES gas log set. Installation should be performed by a certified hearth professional, gas specialist or plumber experienced in gas log installation. Codes and regulations in some areas of the country require that any gas appliance installation be performed by a professional.

Q. Is there any monthly or annual maintenance schedule I should follow for my log set?

A. Isoflames gas log construction is quite superior to others in the marketplace so, little maintenance is necessary. However, we suggest that annual or bi-annual check-ups be performed on valves, embers and log stability to ensure the efficiency and safety of each log set for years to come.
